The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines held the Visayas session of the consultation with local government units on education needs and initiatives on August 16, 2013, in Cebu City.
The event was organized with Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (through its COO, Ms. Dominica Chua), through the support of AusAID and The Asia Foundation - Coalitions for Change (represented by Senior Program Officer Henry Grageda). The consultations are meant to map the needs and initiatives of LGUs on education in order for ULAP to better facilitate LGU partnerships with private and civil society organizations' education programs, and to gather inputs to national and local policy development for education.
Government officials who attended the consultations are Mayor Michael Rama (Cebu City), Mayor Alan Adlawan (Municipality of Asturias, Cebu), Mayor Matet Debuque (Municipality of Anilao, Iloilo), SB Member Elmer Arevalo (Municipality of Mambusao, Capiz), and SB Member Florante Evasco (Municipality of Alburquerque, Bohol). Also represented are the LGUs of Bantayan Cebu; Dalaguete, Cebu; St. Bernard, Southern Leyte; Tuburan, Cebu; San Jose, Antique; Ormoc City; Province of Bohol; and Liloan, Cebu.
